Ben Kessler's speech was presented at his graduation ceremony. It has been argued by many in many forums. There are those who think he is a saint and those who think he is a devil.
I do not agree with much of what Mr. Kessler has said. Most of what he said was centered on a very selfish effort to castigate the individuals who had played some rather childish and stupid pranks at his expense. He comes off as a whiney, complaining child.
I would like to examine a couple of statement she made that cause me great concern. "Good morning, friends, Catholics, fellow students, sexual deviants and chronic masturbators. . . For those of you who use contraception, shame on you! You are murdering the billions of innocent babies that live inside your sperm! "
The mere thought of this statement suggests that Kessler has a most unique view of biology. Studying conception will help Mr. Kessler understand something about the process. It appears as though only one sperm is needed to fertilize the egg. That means there are thousands of sperm that didn't win the race. Given Mr. Kessler's view, what are we to do? There are a thousand potential human beings who are not going to get a chance. And this is only when we consider sexual intercourse between a woman and a man who might want to conceive.
If what he claims is accurate and true, then there are many (all men who ejaculate) who are murderers. When you add all sexual partners the list expands exponentially. By Kessler's claims we are all murderers. The only exception might be men who have severe sexual dysfunction. If this is so, then the police need to be more help in enforcing the murder laws.
And we haven't even suggested the criminal behavior of those young men who suffer from the embarrassment of nocturnal emissions. Another million sperm wasted in the sheets.
These are just some thoughts on the subject.

damn jack, damn.
i'm often troubled by the fact that our freedom of speech right in this country also allows the
blissfully stoopid (yesh, I spell it stoopid, cuz' it's cute...) to ALSO have the right to open their mouths.
the speech touched on so many offensive things i'm really not sure where to start!
so, with all my ignorance summoned up into one fell swoop, I'll jes' begin:
#1 - I'm NOT a fan of religion. This is MY OWN personal right. I do, however choose not to persecute those who are and I actually deeply respect those in my life and around me who use religion for a greater good.
When it's used for a TOOL to force viewpoints, preach hatred and other nasties... i basically want to puke. Ben demonstrated this upchuck urge of mine quite successfully.
#2 - This man personifies hate: as mentioned above, he uses his assumed position in a religion, and the unfortunate decision someone made to give him a microphone as a platform for misguided rantings over life, procreation, college experiences, (yesh, many bad, and yet many good and broadening to our youth) homophobia, racism and so much
more. AGAIN with the posterchild for HATRED.
ya know what? I'm done. Honestly, this article has depressed the bloody hell out of me.
people like this should be locked in boxes. very small ones that are kept behind doors of iron.
this world needs good people. i'm not saying that this stunningly skilled moron-of-hate
kicks kittens on a regular basis, but I'm fairly sure he pays someone else to do it.
yesh, all this is my opinion. but dear gawds what an ass.
i can only hope he becomes a much sadder and lonelier version of himself in the future. i normally think anyone can change for the better in time, but then those hopes are dashed by such articles.
whimper
Croak and bronxbt, thanks for your comments. I just posted another you might find of interest.
Bronxbt, remember, he is just an insecure kid who will more than likely grow into and insecure adult. Too bad.
