The Garden Photos I promised

This view is to the right of our front door as you approach. We thought that come colias would be a nice plant to lead on to the impatiens. By the end of the year, they will take over the entire planting area.

This is to the right of the front door as you leave the house. We moved some bleeding hearts from the back yard last year and then added three more of that plant. The azaleas were moved last fall and they are doing fine.

At the back left is a bleeding heart that we moved from the back yard and placed just left of the azaleas. The rock was also moved forward and a little to the left of its original position. The impatiens and sweet alyssum were added yesterday. Just behind the rock is an astilbe which we also moved from the back yard. There are also some hostas back near the front step just to the right of the hostas and behind the bleeding hearts.

We can hardly wait for these plants to fill in the space with their growth. A couple of years ago we did win the yard of the month award from the Chamber of Commerce because of the beauty and color of the impatiens. I will probably post some photos later on in the year to show the growth.

Enjoy!

As much as I love the political commentary adn the debate of ideas on many blogs, I love these more personal postings as well and the responses they evoke.

Love your garden work. I'm especially tickled by the bleeding hearts (a plant I tried long ago - I fear it bled to death, so to speak).

I keep telling myself - I must get with it with my camera - so many photos to display.

About your comment back at the frogless pond - yes, I can easily imagine quite a few of us sitting about, sipping a nice wine and having a spirited, yet conjivial(sp - darn - am i really an english teacher - you'd never know it, huh?) conversation.

I am not an English teacher, but I do enjoy a good crossword puzzle or more daily. Does the term CONVIVIAL look familiar? lol? No. LMAO? Yes.

I am able to contact the frog by email. She and Clem are visiting their daughter, Jess for a week or so. Perhaps she will be back. I'll let you know whenever I find out.

jack! what wonderful efforts to see in pictures! congrats to you and yours for the beauty that will follow in the weeks to come.

wifee planted bleeding hearts and many more sorts of colorful goodness in our yard 2 years back when we moved in. I pointed, said "ugh" and she developed a color palette in our backyard that's just now blooming into it's second season! she's cool, 'cuz she let me design the layouts then she happily digs away!

Look awesome, and I jes LOVE the stone work on your house! eep!

Maybe I'll share some of our "bloomin madness" in a few weeksn. it's darned near out of control!

cheers!

PS, didn't know you were in Toastmasters too.. I shoulda KNOWN IT! giggle

jack- i think you SHOULD be an english teacher!

fortunately, i don't make such mistakes with my students - i suspect i let my hair down a bit too much in cyberspace - but i really do find, after setting an example during my work day (and wrestling with some very bizarre student writing) i simply can't keep things straight in the blogosphere.

fatty, thanks. I love this time of year because their is the promise of newness. I know that you are experiencing fall weather now and things are going dormant or dying. Ah, the cycles of life.

luxlucisvita, gardening can be very therapeutic, particularly when the plants all grow.

karen, we can hardly wait, too. Maryann has already done some trimming of the more "leggy" impatiens. She likes them to grow wider than taller. It always works well for her.

bronxbt, I just couldn't let you show me up with your kitchen photos. (giggle, giggle) I bet your garden is absolutely beautiful. I look forward to seeing photos of your handiwork. Yeah, I know, you just dig where wifee tells you. Same here. I thought I had mentioned my early efforts at Toastmasters. Ah well, senior moments.

bird, thankfully here in cyberspace, we can type things without worrying too much about the mechanics, e.g., spelling, syntax, grammar, etc. I discovered that in my real estate teaching I have become a math teacher, something I was not formally prepared to do. I bet you get the same excited feeling I do when a student suddenly blurts out something like, "I can do algebra. I never could do algebra. Wow!" That happened to me in class a number of years ago. I still get excited thinking about it. So, young lady, keep on blogging in the spirit of it's my life and I'll describe it anyway I like. Nanny, nanny, boo, boo. I do treasure your posts and comments. Btw, Black Russians make for a convivial drink, too. lol.

no no no jack... i point and wifee digs where i ask her. that's the cool part. from an island we created in the yard that's now adorened with a birbath and flowers, to the entire yard that she let me have full run on the framing of the beauty bark, (called mulch where you're at? or not?) to the location of most shrubs, flowers and/or ground cover.

she's awesome 'cuz she admits to loving the act of doing all the gardening and such, but not the design.

even the koi pond was mainly her idea, but she allowed me (yesh, it's stil an allowance thing.. i'm not stoopid man!) to haev full run of the layout and such.

she's cooh. she'd haev to be to put up with me.

"i point and wifee digs where i ask her"...

LOL bronxbt! It's the opposite here; i point and hubby digs where i ask him!

All you green-thumbed people! I have a hard time keeping a golden pahos alive. The flower beds look good, and will look even better when everything is in bloom.

Jack K. said...

You're welcome.

I can hardly wait for them to mature. They are already growing, thanks to the rain since we planted them. I think the trimming that Maryann did was also instrumental in their growth.

i need your recipe for black russians.

vodka? cream? creme de cocoa? i have NO idea. but that doesn't sound so bad, does it?

Jack K. said...

Black Russian

2 parts Vodka
1 part Kahlua
over ice.

I prefer a half and half mixture myself.

Some even like it with a twist. Not me.

If you put milk or cream with it, it becomes a white Russian. Who knew?

I think I may give an account of how was introduced to them in a future posting. Or not. lol
