It was time for a replacement

After 15 years of hard use the signs were becoming more evident. There was rust on the basket tines. Deposits of hard water chemicals. Control buttons that were not responding, unless pressed a certain way. And that way changed without as much as a fare thee well. So, reluctantly, it was out with the old and in with the new.

We finally "bit the bullet" and went looking for a replacement. What with internet searches, visits to several different retail suppliers we finally settled on a dishwasher to replace our old one. The retailer who won out was the one who had supplied the appliances when we built the house lo those many years ago. Ferg explained all of the features in a GE Profile model that seemed to suit our needs, and so we ordered it. It was just before new years eve. He thought he would have it in within a week. (New years eve weekend was in between.) The day we thought it might come in it didn't. No surprise. Early the next week Ferg calls to tell us that GE has been inundated with orders for that particular model and cannot supply it in a timely fashion. So, according to Ferg, he suggests that perhaps GE would be willing to ship the next model up at the same price. GE goes for it, now all he has to do is convince us. It was not too hard to do the math. We still get a GE Profile, but this one has the SmartDispenser. I swear that is the only difference between the two machines. Place the order, Ferg. So here it is in all of its radiant glory. We are pleased. It took a week longer, but who's counting.

This dishwasher looks a little bit like the other one. It has a shiny black exterior. It will clean the dishes like the other, although there are a few more technological advances to this one.Did I mention the interior is stainless steel and these new washers have more space on the interior. All of the mechanical stuff is squeezed into the bottom as you can see. They had one hell of time getting the water connected and tested for leaks. (There were no leaks.) Anyway, we ordered it. It was delivered and installed. Now, all we have to do is learn how to use it. We already discovered that there is button to push if you want it to dry the dishes too.

One other thing Ferg told us about dealing with extremely hard water, put a little Calgon water softener in with the dishwasher soap. We did and the glasses come out sparking clean again.

Enjoy life!

Ah the joys of a dishwasher. I am ashamed to love mine so much. I am firmly protective of it and for the first time in my life I see something as 'mine'. After 32 years of not having one I now find the joy in a 'thing' embarrasingly delightful. I am glad you have a new one. It is a delight to behold.
