Our week has been quite routine. I'm not complaining. The weather has been unusual. We hit a record high of 67F degrees last week and we barely got to the freezing mark only once. One nice thing, we did get some much needed rain on Saturday.
There will be some changes made to our routine soon. The State is going to be improving the roadway for Main Street. Main Street is part of the State highway system and needs to be widened for safety reasons. It will be an 18 month project that should start as early as April. As you might have guessed, Main Street is the primary street through our town. As you can see on the City map the road marked in red is the part to be widened. The southernmost point is where we exit our subdivision to enter the highway. The part to be widened is approximately two miles.
Every week day there are people traveling through Lansing to get to and from work,. They come from both directions. Some folks work in this area and many folks work in the greater Kansas City area. It is going to be a real mess for a while. Considering events in other parts of the world, or universe, this will hardly be cataclysmic, just a minor inconvenience.
The City is also planning a new park. It is a major undertaking and the planning has been ongoing for about two years so far. Lots of different sports will be accommodated, tennis, softball/baseball, soccer, basketball, etc. There will be picnic areas and eventually, a water theme park. Lansing is facing the reality of its growth in a responsible manner. Our school system is one of the best in the area and is a real draw.
Well, it is time to bring in the Sunday paper and think about the rest of my day. This evening a friend is coming by to see my progress on a possible web site for my brother's art work. That is a project that is taking time. I know there is a lot to be thought about. Once we get the site up and running, who is going to manage it and the sales?
Time to go now and figure out more ways to...
Serve well! Live fully! And, do good works!
