Music that brings tears to my eyes

My guess is that you have heard songs that have moved you very deeply. Every once in a while I hear music that does, in fact, bring me to tears. Right now there are two that fit into that category:

That's the Way Love Goes by Merle Haggard in the album Legendary Country Singers

My Father's Eyes by Eric Clapton in the album Clapton Chronicles: The Best Of Eric Clapton

I am not sure what it is about them that contributes to that reaction in me. I am just glad that I can have that experience.

In the Haggard song not only do the words affect me, but there is a particular guitar riff that blows me away.

With the Clapton piece it is the words that do me in.

They are truly spiritual responses for me. I hope you are fortunate to have such experiences. Let me know what moves you, if you have a notion to do so.

Pink Floyd "The Wall" No other album (and I say album, vinyl because at the time it was-hisses, pops and all) takes me back to the 70's like that one, growing up with a hippie mom traveling the west. Beside scents, I cannot think of another memory trigger more powerful than music.

Depending on my mood depends on how any music makes me feel. For driving I like the classic rock, for writing I like celtic (new world renn. and the like), to put grandkids and myself after a stressful day classical (bach, beethoven, rachmoninov and the like). The best music is when Jerry plays his guitar, it is very soothing.

over the years, many tunes have moved me to tears. that eric clapton one stirs the same reaction in me as well. ask shanny about the marc cohen CD she helped me find about 2 months back too... many of those songs on his first CD cause me to jes' curl up and purr with the power of the words.

i'm basically a big sap. i was talking literally yesterday with a friend about music such as this. funny how you unexplicably have experienced the same thing! cooh.

being a singer for many years in choirs, quartets and more, (even a barbershop one!) i have that bond that ties me way too closely to closely at times to music. it wraps me up sometimes and makes it difficult to function. this may be why i normally can't listen to music at the office.... 45 minutes later the cd is done and i realize i've not done a lick of work.

giggle.

tfh, haven't heard of Rammstein. My experience has been limited, however, I plan to rectify that.

dwo, Pink Floyd has special meaning to me as well. I only wish I could remember the specific song. Perhaps I'll have to change my state of consciousness to remember it.

adrianne, it's nice to know that you have tuned into music for the occasion. It will do wonders for the kids and grand-kids. See you soon.

croak, missed you. discovered you were back before I got this message. I look forward to many more postings and comments. Hope things went well for you and Clem when you visited Jess.

fatty, trust your intuition. There are messages there that will help you to learn even more and to successfully complete our life's missions

wisest sage, B, so we learn more about each other. There are times when I have been moved to tears and tried to hide them because I was too afraid to let a young Shannon know me that way. I regret it to this day. I love to listen to soft jazz while I am working. In fact, if you were connected to AIM and had my screen name up you would see that I am currently listening to Absolutely Smooth Jazz on Sky.fm. The secret for me is to keep it soft. I have never been able to carry a tune. However, I do play a mean iTunes. I was pleased? and surprised! that you didn't begin with wiseass sage. giggle lol LMAO.

Dad, never regret. I know you in the way I do, tears and all. To this day, Take Five by Dave Brubeck will send a smile to my face, a wiggle to my hips and a tear to my eye. I love you very much!

Shannon, thanks for reminding me of Take Five. It has extra special meaning to me. It brings a smile to my face and eyes. I remember dancing to it with one of the most beautiful women in the universe. And it being her wedding day only added to her beauty.

Karen, Amazing Grace also brings tears and goose bumps.

Croak, I have never heard of that particular tune.

Dr. Dave, you have already gotten my reply. No problem.
